Chelsea vs Manchester United recap

Fernando Torres finally scored on a beautiful shot past De Gea seconds after the start of the second half, but it wasn't enough as Smalling, Nani and Rooney scored for the strong Manchester side that took on Chelsea yesterday.

Smalling scored in the 8th minute off a controversial header on a free kick taken by Young.
Many Chelsea supporters thought he was offside but the ref ruled it a goal.
Nani followed up the scoring in the 37th minute as Mata allowed him too much space he then put a screamer into the upper corner past Cech.
Rooney finished of the scoring for Manchester by tucking in a rebound past Cech making it 3 nil in the 45th minute. It was a hard-fought first half as Chelsea had many opportunities to convert but failed to finish.

Chelsea started the second half with the ball. Anelka made a nice pass into the box for Torres who converted in the 46th minute to make it 3-1, it was his first in 23 matches nearly 11 hours.

There were then many chances for both teams until Ramires fouled Hernandez in the box to give Manchester a penalty. Terry a argued with the ref that the ball was dead at the time of the challenge and therefore should not be given a penalty. Terry and Ramires were shown yellow. Rooney stepped up to take the penalty but slipped and missed the net!

During the 84th minute Torres again received the ball in the box, he dribbled the keeper and shot from 4 yards out ...
Unluckily he missed. It was described as the miss of all misses. Better luck next time Torres. 5 minutes of injury time ensued and neither team scored.
3-1 full time.
